Right tree, right place, right time!

You may already know, but planting a tree is far from just digging a hole in the ground and crossing your fingers!

When planting, you learn to consider things such as soil type, water levels, underground pipes and overhead wires, shade, other species/habitats present, time of year (best time to plant a tree is in winter when they are dormant), and the tree’s purpose, such as creating a shaded spot of a sports field or soaking up floodwater.

If you know of any suitable places to plant trees, we would be more than happy to undertake these checks to bring the public the many benefits a tree can bring! Let us know by e-mailing sustainabilityteam@doncaster.gov.uk

We all love a back to school offer in the shops, but what’s better than a freebie? Over the past 2 years, we have given out more than 20,000 free trees to residents thanks to donations from charitable partners such as The Woodland trust and Trees for Cities.
