Mexborough Light Switch-On Success
On Thursday 20 November, Mexborough Event Committee Inclusive (M.E.C.I) hosted its annual Christmas Light Switch-On, bringing festive cheer to the heart of Mexborough.
Families turned out in large numbers to enjoy an evening packed with entertainment, delicious food, and fair ground rides.
The Neighbourhood Team played a key role in stewarding Santa’s sleigh through Mexborough Town Centre, spreading joy and handing out sweets along the way. Excitement filled the air as queues to meet Santa formed as early as 5pm, remaining strong until well after 7:00 pm. Residents also had the chance to meet The Grinch, whose popularity kept his queue out the door all evening!
At 6:30pm, the town square was buzzing with anticipation for the big moment. With the crowd gathered, Tommy Joyce MBE pressed the plunger, lighting up the gigantic Christmas tree and officially kicking off the festive season. Thanks to the incredible efforts of M.E.C.I, Mexborough is well and truly in the Christmas spirit!
