The Children & Families Alliance
What is the project?
Amy Walker, the VCFS Forum Great 8 representative for Children & Families, has collaborated with 12 community organisations across Doncaster to identify and address key local needs. Using existing data, they have highlighted three main priorities for support: Financial Stability, Education, and Mental & Physical Health.
These priorities align with the broader goals of the 'Team Doncaster Great 8 Priorities', a group of representatives chosen by their peers to be the voice for each focus area.
You can read more about the forum on the Well Doncaster website: Voluntary and Community Faith Sector Forum - Well Doncaster
The Projects Aim
The aim of this project is to empower community organisations to support residents in their own communities, creating a step-down process to provide engagement and support networks. Developing strong, long term collaborative working relationships with the VCFS and social care/early intervention sector. Families will be able to access community organisations at a hyper local level.
The alliance aims to become a supportive learning and sharing group where we can develop long term working practices between social care/early intervention workers and the VCFS organisations to develop new ways of working collaboratively to support the families of Doncaster. This development of new ways of practice will aim to respond to the needs and voices of the community, VCFS and social care/early intervention workers to build effective support across the borough.
Data and learning will be collected on the learning experiment focusing on training and knowledge needs of the VCFS to strengthen quality support and analysing the priority outcomes of early intervention data and how this is prioritised in funding and commissioning to ensure ongoing support for the community organisations shown to be providing quality services for the families in Doncaster.
