Healthy Ageing Month
Introducing Healthy Ageing Month to Doncaster!
Introducing Healthy Ageing Month!
Healthy Ageing Month is all about the importance of ageing well in Doncaster and providing information on the services and support available to make that happen for our residents. We have lots of different events ranging from NHS Health Checks to the History Health Happiness Programme, all for you to get involved in.
Plus, we have our very first Healthy Ageing Day, which features a number of Doncaster partner organisations. Bringing all services together in one space so residents can get all the information they need in one place for healthy ageing.
What’s on?

You can find all the details around timings and locations on the Primary Care Doncaster website. Alternatively, you can find a pharmacy near you that offers free blood pressure checks.
FREE NHS Health Checks

Healthy Ageing Day
Join us for the first Healthy Ageing Day in Doncaster, on Wednesday 24 August, 9:30am - 4pm at Cast, Waterdale DN1 3BU.
Partner organisations across the City have come together to organise this brand new event, giving our residents the opportunity to speak with the experts, ask questions, and get advice around support and services available to enable our residents to age well.
Plus you can get your NHS Health Check (appointment to be booked in advance), see a GP onboard Primary Care Doncaster’s Health Van – Vincent Van Cough, take part in the group walk with our Ride, Stride and Thrive team and much more!
Falls Prevention Week
This year, we are focusing on the main causes to falls in older adults and providing residents with useful, quick tips to prevent these from happening in our Falls Prevention Flyer.
Keeping active by starting with easy, gentle exercise is one of the best ways to prevent falls. Our Ride, Stride and Thrive team offer personalised 1-to-1 supported walks designed around each individual’s needs and preferences. Although they know a lot of great routes, these walks are completely personalised so the distance, where they start and where they go to is planned with the person, we can even start it from their front door!
The 1-to- 1 walks are ideal for anyone who wants to take that first step towards walking in the community or returning to activity after a period of inactivity. They’re a great way to build confidence, improve fitness, and get to know your local area in a supportive and friendly environment.
