Armed Forces Link Officer Supports Veterans at Victoria Cross Re-Dedication

Local veterans gathered at St Katherine’s Church in Loversall for the re-dedication of the graves of three Victoria Cross recipients, in a moving ceremony that honoured the bravery and sacrifice of some of the area's most decorated servicemen.

Among those in attendance was Richard Lewis, South Team Armed Forces Link Officer and serving Army Reservist, who represented Doncaster’s ongoing commitment to supporting its Armed Forces community. Richard was joined by Teresa Hodgeson from Doncaster Armed Forces Community (DAFC) and together they engaged with veterans to discuss the range of support available across the borough.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for veterans to connect with local services, ask questions and learn more about the help available to them whether related to housing, health, wellbeing or community engagement.

The re-dedication ceremony not only paid tribute to the past but also reinforced Doncaster’s commitment to its Armed Forces Covenant, ensuring that those who serve or have served are treated with fairness, respect and dignity.
