Education, Employment and Volunteering

Unpaid Work and Volunteering

To celebrate volunteers' week 2017 we added a filter to our community directory so you can quickly see the groups and activities who have let us know they are looking for volunteers. To see which groups and activities have volunteering opportunities click here.

As well as doing something positive for yourself and your community, volunteering can help you:

  • improve your self confidence
  • gain new skills and experiences
  • benefit from training opportunities
  • gain references for future employers
  • improve your employment prospects
  • make new friends

If you do decide to volunteer, make sure that you do it safely. For helpful advice on reducing risk while volunteering click here. Remember, the directory is open to any organisation and their inclusion does not not reflect any endorsement by Doncaster Council.

You can also find volunteering opportunities on the 'Do it - volunteering made easy' website.

Paid Work

If you are looking for paid work, Job Centre Plus has trained staff that are able to help you find employment that is right for you. They can help you search for local jobs, provide help and advice on looking for a job, benefits information and advice, and undertake benefits estimates.

Training and Additional Support

Depending on your circumstances, there are a range of organisations that can provide support helping you into paid/unpaid work, discuss any employment issues, and signpost you to programmes to help you. Take a look through our community directory.
